Bored at work? Need a five-minute break? Instead of playing your usual games, why don’t you make your own game and show it off to your friends? Large Animal Games has created a whole slew of PlayWidgets, 10 little Flash applications for you to use and reuse to your heart’s content. Customize each Playwidget to your liking, then share them through e-mail, blog, MySpace, or at the Large Animal Gallery. You can create things for your friends or make their pictures part of the game. And they are all FREE - which, as you know, we love.
Here’s a sampler of five Playwidgets; we highly encourage you to check out their site and try the rest!
Mustachr
This is our favorite: Upload a photo of you or your friends and pin moustaches and beards on their faces. Who knew there were so many types of moustaches to choose from? You can resize, rotate, and even choose the color of the moustache. Top it off with a funny bubble caption, then send the photo out and have a laugh about it. If you don’t want to poke fun at your pals, don’t sweat it - there are some default photos you can moustache guilt-free.
Dance Off
Another popular PlayWidget, this one attaches your uploaded headshot to a body… that dances! Choose the music and background, then randomize the dance or animate it yourself. Imagine ragdoll physics - you can move each joint quite liberally, creating a dancing puppet that would make Geppetto proud. There’s a certain degree of satisfaction hitting ‘Play’ and seeing your ragdoll come to life. Some people have made really amazing stuff, too - check out the ‘Gallery’ when you’re done!
Instant Flowers
If you don’t want to mess around with your friends, you can send flowers instead. Instant Flowers lets you pick and arrange your very own flower arrangement, through a simple click-and-place interface. There is a crazy amount of customization available, from the number, color, and spread of the petals to the way each flower bends. For a small widget, it’s also very powerful: with time and patience you can create a beautiful and elaborate bouquet for your friends.
Be My Bra
Yeah, the name put me off a bit, too - but if you keep an open mind, Be My Bra is actually a breast cancer awareness widget. You create your own female avatar (with very stylish and tasteful art, by the way), choose from different hairstyles and fashion pieces, and then sign your name with a message. It’s more like a visual petition than a game, but it’s nice to see a game studio create something for a cause, and it should be commended.
